Girlfriends !!

Friendship between women has the usual sharing that is the foundation of any relationship. Sharing of thoughts, feelings, experiences, entire life-stories. There's love, care, support, understanding…

But there's more than that. A unique aspect of women friends is, willingness to talk about literally everything.

There is none of that Harry and Sally stuff, and since we don't consider the Sally and Sally stuff to be much fun, we are free to talk about whatever. Since there is no need for political correctness or social niceties, the list of topics to talk about is endless, and it's all direct, dil se!

That brings us to the big question -- what makes girlfriends tick? When you think about it, you realise a number of ingredients make up this delectable dish.

Heart-to-hearts: These can be across the table, over the phone, over whatsapp groups,  with a coffee cup or popcorn in hand, on a drive, in times of distress or on days of boredom. Basically anytime, anywhere !!

These talks are the oxygen that keeps our friendships alive. We include the dissection and vivisection of everything, and we mean everything, under the sun. Right from the convoluted intricacies of petty office politics to burnt dals and overcooked rice to our own sex life -- past, present or non-existent.

Problems are identified, solutions suggested and pearls of  wisdom distributed free of cost. Only a girlfriend can understand the trauma of a white shirt turning off-white or the deep feeling of hurt at finding a 10k email includes 9k of your original message.

Only she will nod in perfect understanding when a friend wants to cry her heart out at a broken relationship, but says, "I can't, it gives me puffy eyes."

Humour: Theirs is a unique brand. It's just the right concoction of clean, toilet, sex, and depressive humours, the potency of each ingredient varying according to the occasion and mood.

Who else but a girlfriend can laugh out loud at something inane and exclaim in the same breath, "That's not funny!"
Together we find humour in the sadness in our lives, then shed a few tears right after, and finally get back to those same lives, feeling infinitely better.

Men: Girlfriends cannot exist without men. That's the bottomline. We may not be able to stand them, and yet we cannot do without them.
Discussing the personality traits of the lower species adds a dash of spice to an insipid conversation. Putting them through the shredder gives a purpose to a ho-hum day. Besides, men have their uses too.

Husbands and in-laws: Rest assured husbands and men are two different species. Men are merely a pain, husbands a class apart. Swapping notes on husbands and their percentage of participation in housework, lending support and understanding, and generally shouldering some responsibility in the marriage is a time-consuming activity.

Then come in-laws. There is no dearth of conversation when girlfriends sit down on this subject. Night flashes by in a wink when married friends get together for a pyjama party.

It's not merely the supreme satisfaction of saying all the things one wants to one's in-laws but cannot, but the solace of having cleansed the soul and the comfort of knowing you are not alone in your suffering that actually goes into making this topic a bonding factor.

Fitness: Girlfriends stick together through thick and thin, flabby arms and thunder thighs -- even, frizzy hair and breaking-out skin. Together we confront the temptation of chocolate mousses and the blandness of boiled veggies like true comrades-in-arms. What more proof of an undying friendship do you need?

The humour and the fun, the gossip and the shredding are merely the tip of the iceberg. There's much more that women share. There's silly laughter and heartfelt tears, meaningful work we do together or just a chat we have -- all indications of the deep trust we have for each other.

Even if the whole world turns its back, these friends will always be there to lend their ear and a perfumed tissue. Doesn't matter whether we've known each other from pigtails to perms, the feeling doesn't die with time.

It's a bond no one can break. Not boyfriends, not husbands, not mothers-in-law..     :-)

Appraisal vs Resignation....!!!!!

A newly joined trainee asks his boss "what is the meaning of appraisal?"

Boss: "Do you know the meaning of resignation?"
Trainee: "Yes I do"

Boss: "So let me make you understand what a appraisal is by comparing it with resignation"

Comparison study: Appraisal and Resignation Appraisal

In appraisal meeting they will speak only about your weakness, errors and failures.
In resignation meeting they will speak only about your strengths, past achievements and success.

In appraisal you may need to cry and beg for even 10% hike.
In resignation you can easily demand (or get even without asking) more than 50-60% hike.

During appraisal, they will deny promotion saying you didn't meet the expectation, you don't have leadership qualities, and you had several drawbacks in our objective/goal.
During resignation, they will say you are the core member of team; you are the vision of the company how can you go, you have to take the project in shoulder and lead your juniors to success.

There is 90% chance for not getting any significant incentives after appraisal.
There is 90% chance of getting immediate hike after you put the resignation.

Trainee: "Yes boss enough, now I understood my future. For an appraisal I will have to resign..!!

Places I Love... Coffee Museum, Brazil

Its been a long time, I was thinking to write about my travelling and Places I Loved.. So here it is..

The Official Coffee Exchange Palace, a historical and architectural patrimony located in downtown Santos, was originally built to centralize, organize and control the Brazilian Coffee trade. It has now been converted in the home of the "Museu dos Cafes do Brasil" (Brazilian Coffee Museum).

Santos is one of the Best day trip from Sao Paulo. The Coffee Palace was inaugurated in 1922. The building's outstanding features include a 120- ft tall clock tower and the statues above the main entrance. Nervous center of world coffee trade for some years, the importance of the building declined after the world financial crises of 1929. The Coffee Palace was the site of the Coffee Exchange until 1950, long after the crash of 1929 had deeply affected coffee production in Brazil.

Restoration of the Coffee Palace was concluded in 1998, as part of the revitalization of the downtown area. Outside the museum, on Rua XV de Novembro, or November 15th Street, the coffee theme is present in the decorative coffee bean pattern of the buolevard pavement.

A tour in its interiors astonishes all visitors for its refinement and beauty, as for the use of exquite materials. Many objects related to the coffee cycle are on display at the Coffee Museum - sacks, scales, tasting tables. The museum is also an important document preservation and learning center.

Every month, the Museum hosts three-day barista courses. They cost about $180.

On the Museum's second floor, permanent and temporary exhibits help learner discover the history of coffee in Brazil. According to the Coffee Museum 2,122,273 immigrants - 935,222 of whom were Italian - arrived in Sao Paulo state to work on coffee plantations between 1875 and 1930.

The Cafe, or Cafeteria, at the Coffee Museum has tables in the classy museum lounge and more casual area for a quick coffee and snack. The cafe sells gifts and special coffees from different ares in Brazil that can be toasted on the spot.

And if you like coffee, you'll probably enjoy the drinks at the Cafe at the Coffee Museum. The Barista at the Cafe says they use a blend of coffee from Southern Minas Gerias, the Mogiana and Cerrado areas in Brazil for their coffee and Coffee drinks.

The Afogatto, a mix of vanilla ice cream, espresso and chocolate sauce served with a cinnamon stick, is fit for the coffee lover with a sweet tooth.

And although, you can find great coffee all over Brazil, there is a special Aura about having it at the Santos Coffee Museum...

I Love Rain.....

A Note of Thanks :-)

Someone truly said, "Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born."

If comfort, strength and inspiration come from heaven, then this friend of mine is an Angel....

I met him at my 1st ever job at Essar Steel, Surat. I was like a kid for whom this was a 1st encounter with the real world. Away from home, this was a friend, always there for me !!!

Our destinies were different and so were our worlds. He got settled at USA. But he was always there to listen to me, irrespective of how dumb I sounded :-) (I realize it now ;-)

It was this friend who sent me for my 1st Part 1 course when I was going thru a rough phase of my life. He paid my fees and sent me there.. An amazing journey started which is never going to end..

Today, when I became an Art of Living Teacher, I want to Thank Him, who sent me for my 1st AOL course. Of course, this story is a part of my all Part 1 courses now..

Thank You Dear, I am here because of You. I found a Guru, because of You. This has been an Amazing Journey...

You made me Laugh, when I felt I would Cry,
You made me Live, when I wished to Die..

Thanks for being there for me...

I am Blessed...

I was looking at the pictures of Kandivali Advanced Course and this picture brought a smile on my face... Thinking that I am so blessed to have people like him around me.. Yes, we call him Venkie..
My Part 1 course teacher..

I remember my 1st part one course with Vandana Di n Venkie.. I though he is a tough guy.. Kind of person that, as a child you like to hide behind your mother.. n do not want to face him.. but he ensures that you face him ;-)

But as I finished my part 1 course, I was absolutely in love with his voice and counting for pranayams.. All I wanted was to record his voice so that I can do my daily sadhana on his voice.. Last day of the course I had tears in my eyes and he told me that you can come for all my courses.. I wish I could do it.. Life has become really busy and I dont have the good fortune to attend their courses now..

But I still remember those moments when he will understand what was going on in my mind.. I remember the phone calls when I shifted to a house at Thane... Venkie would call and ask "Kya kar raha hai baccha.. " "Have you locked the door properly?" "Have you eaten?" He would serve me food when I go to Kandivali.. He would care for small things like an elder brother...
I miss this warmth n care when I am away.. Venkie, I miss you a lot here.. I wish someday I will shift there so that I can be with this family again :-)
Jai Gurudev..
